Adams-Ender retired in 1993, but she continues to serve diligently in her community. Her ongoing service is a testament to why she has received such memorable awards and honors such as: Outstanding Young Woman of America; military's Distinguished Service Medal and Meritorious Service Medal (both with Oak Leaf Clusters); NAACP's Roy Wilkins Meritorious Service Award; University of Minnesota Regents' Distinguished Graduate Award; and the National Bar Association's Gertrude E. Rush Award for Leadership.
